Zaha Hadid has design a new Opera House in Guangzhou, China. The project includes 1,800 seats in the Grand theatre, entrance lobby & lounge, Multifunction hall, other auxiliary facilities & support premises. Zaha is trying to confirm this city as one of Asia’s cultural centers.

“Admirant e 18 September Plein” by Massimiliano & Doriana Fuksas

Following the definition of the Masterplan in 1998 for the center of Eindhoven in Holland, studio Fuksas developed the four projects associated with it: the 18-Septemberplein, a square of 7.000 m² with an underground parking lot of 2.300m² for 1.700 bicycles, the Piazza Shopping Mall, a shopping center covering approximately 20.000m² with 6.000m² of office space, the Media Market, a store for sales of electrical appliances and electronic equipment and the Admirant Entrance Building.via archdaily

Maxwan + Lola Win First Prize in the Competition ‘Hannover City 2020 – Marstall’

MVRDV + ADEPT Win ‘House Of Culture And Movement’ In Frederiksberg, Denmark

The City of Frederiksberg, Denmark, the Danish Foundation for Culture and Sport Facilities and Realdania recently announced the winners of the ‘House of Culture and Movement’ competition in Frederiksberg.

The winning project is designed by MVRDV, Rotterdam, and ADEPT, Copenhagen, in a joint effort with SLA landscape architects, Søren Jensen engineers, Imitio, Winnie Ricken, Copenhagen, Max Fordham, London, and Ducks Scèno, Paris. via

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts extension by Rick Mather

The quite popular Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in beautiful Richmond, VA has received an extension by London architect Rick Mather. It has just recently been opened to the public and will feature an exhibition on Louis Comfort Tiffany until August 15th, 2010. Here is a a brief intro from the museum website:

The first major exhibition to be shown at VMFA after the grand opening of the McGlothlin Wing celebrates one of America’s greatest artists. Tiffany: Color and Light is the most important exhibition of the work of renowned designer and master of glass, Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933) in a generation and VMFA will be the only American museum to show the exhibition. Drawing on the finest collections in Europe, North America, and Russia, the exhibition presents Tiffany as an artist of international stature and significance.
